Gratitude Lately No 1

Image

My amazing friends, family & coworkers. I need to give thanks for to these people more often. They have made me who I am today and have loved me when I was not lovable (which can happen quite often. Gurl got hormones).

This has by far been the best birthday because of the people who made it that way. #thankful!

Those people

There are some people who you can be around and just totally be yourself. You know that “self” that you don’t really let out that much. That “self” that you think is pretttty funny, but other people just think is weird? Yeah, that “self”.

It’s these people who let you plop down on their couch, show up in sweats, and laugh at you as you question the difference between a country and a continent (which, by the way, CAN be confusing).

It’s these people who leave you feeling a little bit happier than when you showed up.

And it’s these people who, no matter what may be going on, you feel really really lucky just to have them in your crazy little life.

I hope you all have some of “these people”.

Because these kinds of people are good for the soul.

Like, reallllly good.

Missing

…Art. creating.  staying up until 4 am working on projects and not letting myself sleep until it’s done. And not even done, but perfect. P e r f e c t.

…Running. Lots of running. And the feeling of a good, hard, long run.

…Sitting on the phone talking. endless amounts of talking and talking and talking. and laughing and sharing our days and stories and lessons and encounters.

…Certain people. And places and events.

…Passion. For life. For work. For love.

I guess I’m feeling nostalgic.

And I think that’s okay.

So for now I’ll just embrace it and wrap myself up in it.

And start over tomorrow because that’s what we do.

A good little reminder

Sometimes I find it very difficult to go through life and not compare myself with others. I think a lot of people at my age deal with this. Apparently, it gets better with age. So in the meantime, I will continue to surround myself with beautiful words like these and try my best to be happy in my own skin. Because really, I’m stuck with it for the rest of my life so I might as well learn to like it.

“For crying out loud, stop comparing and start living! And you’ll be happier with your life, I guarantee. This is crucial: the most difficult thing in the world is to be who you are not. Pretending and trying to be someone else is the official pastime of the human race. And the easiest thing in the world is to be yourself. Be happy. Live. There must be a reason why God made you tall or short or fat or thin or bumpy all over. Love who you are.” by Bo Sanchez

,,,a goodie huh? I thought so too.
