I reallllllllllllllly like when the boyfriend comes home for the weekend and reallllllllllllllllly don’t like when he leaves again. Boo!
Last year at this time- first time on the boat
This year- first time with the new baby on the boat
Next year- who knows…hopefully more babies 😉
It’s funny how one summer can change everything. It must be something
about the heat and the smell of chlorine, fresh cut grass and honeysuckle,
asphalt sizzling after late-day thunderstorms, the steam rising while everything
drips around it. Something about long, lazy days and whirring air conditioners
and bright plastic flip flops from the drugstore thwacking down the street.
Something about fall being so close, another year, another Christmas, another
beginning. So much in one summer, stirring up like the storms that crest at the
end of each day, blowing out all the heat and dirt to leave everything gasping
and cool. Everyone can reach back to one summer and lay a finger to it, finding
that exact point when everything changed –That Summer
Life is good.
Things I learned this weekend…
Wear sunscreen (I will never learn).
I’m too old for outdoor music festivals.
Jalapeno lemonade is the greatest thing to ever touch my lips. Weird but great.
Bra tops and high wasted shorts that go up your butt are IN style right now.
Antique taco is the cutest little restaurant in Chicago. Order the fish tacos and if your boyfriend orders a milkshake, drink it all.
Running in the rain is not as romantic as in the movies. It’s actually quite dangerous.
Taking the mega bus at 11 pm and getting back in town at 8 am just in time for work is probably not the smartest thing I have ever done.
Too be young (& stupid) and in love is really all it’s cracked up to be.
Bike Riding (FUN). Olympics Watching. Girlfriend time. Birthday celebrating. Wine Drinking. Dessert eating. Dancing floor dancing (lots). Singing. Lots of laughing. Bar closing. 3 am bed times. Napping. Sun soaking. Book reading.
All good good things.
Weekend fun-ness why must you always come to an end?
Monday go away.
4th of July “adult” style.
I hung out with the rents and their friends.(duetothefactthatmyboyfriendleftmeforchicago.coughCOREYcough)
And although I find it somewhat lame to have hung out with my parents I decided it was actually pretty fun to hang out with them.
I guess old people can still be fun 😉
A year ago today I met a wonderful person who has without a doubt made my life more fun, more giggly, more spontaneous, more goofy (!!!), more adventurous, more meaningful and all around better.
A year ago today boy meets girl on the steps outside of a bar (classy).
Girl and boy talk about their love for Frank Lloyd Wright, architecture and other dorky things. (Girl pretends to know more about architecture than she actually does to impress boy. Guess it worked, Booyaaaah.)
Girl thinks boy is interesting (and cute) and decides to ask him out. (Of course, after discussing this with her mother. Mother approves.)
Boy does the actual asking out (duh) and girl says sure!
Then girl gets too nervous and cancels but boy is persistent and reschedules.
Boy and girl go on a little dinner date, share their weird stories, and have an all over splendid night.
(Girl still remembers boy showing up in his staple plaid shirt and thinking he is the cutest thing that has ever showed up at her front door.<—Truth.)
Then girl and boy decide they are quite fond of one another, spend the rest of the summer together, and as they say, the rest is history!
And they lived happily ever after. (…as long as girl doesn’t kill rosie.)
Thanks CGG for being your weird little self. You really are my most absolute favorite thing ever. And the fact that you haven’t run away screaming yet has to mean something!
“And then my soul saw you and it kind of went ‘Oh, there you are. I’ve been looking for you.’ -Iain Thomas
Bloody Mary= summer staple… Duh.
Can every weekend from here on out be as great as this one was?
Probably one of the greatest things about growing up (if there is anything great about getting older?) is how all of a sudden it’s really fun to hang out with your family. I remember when I was younger I thought I was being tortured if I had to stay at home with my family but now they just can’t seem to get rid of me.
You can run but you can’t hide. Muahahaha.
The weekend consisted of family, friends, sun, boat time, and lots of laughing. Pretty sure there is nothing greater than those 5 things. Well, maybe wine. Which, there was plenty of that!
I would have to say it was an absolute perfect weekend in my book!
Little brother’s graduation…one word- butt sweat.
Your my golf ball.
Breakfast and fun on the boat- my favorite place to be!
Oh hey boyfrand.
4 deep in the bed on the boat. Good good times.
My heart is full of happiness and my tummy is full of ice cream.
That my friends, is called weekend perfection.
“’do you fall in love often?’
yes, often. with a view, with a book, with a dog, a cat, with numbers, with friends, with complete strangers, with nothing at all.”
Currently I’m loving- being outside as much as I can, uptown, the lake, soaking up the sun, my new apartment, Iced Lattes (damn it! there back in my life), exploring new places, and all things associated with summer.
